WHY UNICCO
Custom-home standards, applied to every remodel.
A bathroom may be one of the smaller rooms in a home, but getting it right requires design, planning, execution and detailed finish work to come together within an existing structure.
Unicco Construction Group brings the same construction experience, hands-on oversight and vetted trades we rely on for high-end custom homes to every bathroom remodel project. From straightforward renovations to projects involving layout changes, relocated plumbing or more extensive construction, the same level of care carries through, from the work behind the walls to the finished details you will see and use every day.

Layout & Construction Changes
Reconfigured bathrooms, framing changes, doors, windows and other construction required when the new bathroom goes beyond the existing footprint.
COST & PLANNING
There isn’t one meaningful price for a bathroom remodel. A cosmetic update on a guest bath that keeps the existing layout is a very different project from a full primary bathroom renovation with a new shower, relocated plumbing, extensive tilework, custom cabinetry, windows, or electrical changes.
In Pinellas County, the biggest cost drivers are the size of the bathroom, how much of the existing layout changes, shower and waterproofing scope, tile coverage, cabinetry, plumbing and electrical work, fixture selections, and the condition of the existing space once demolition begins.
Scope & layout
Keeping plumbing fixtures and walls in their existing locations generally reduces construction complexity. Moving drains, supply lines, walls, doors or windows adds labor, materials and permitting considerations.
Shower & tile
Curbless showers, waterproofing, frameless glass, benches, niches and large-format or floor-to-ceiling tile can significantly change both labor and material costs.
Cabinetry & finishes
Vanity size and construction, countertops, plumbing fixtures, lighting, mirrors, hardware and finish selections can create a wide range between an attainable renovation and a higher-end custom bathroom.
Generic averages only go so far. Our Bathroom Project Planner uses your room, scope and planned finish selections to build a preliminary budget range for the project you’re actually considering.

REAL PROJECTS, REAL RESULTS
PROJECT TIMELINE
For most full bathroom renovations, active construction typically takes about 3 weeks once demolition begins. Smaller guest bathrooms or straightforward renovations can move faster, while large primary bathrooms, layout changes, extensive tilework, relocated plumbing, custom glass, or permitting can extend the schedule.
Before construction starts, we allocate time for design decisions, material selections, permit approval and ordering long-lead items. We establish the construction schedule around the actual scope of your project rather than giving every bathroom the same timeline.

LOCAL PERMITTING
Permit requirements depend on both the scope of work and the jurisdiction. Cosmetic updates may not require a permit, while plumbing relocation, electrical work, structural changes, windows and other regulated construction typically do. Unicco confirms the applicable requirements before construction begins.
Unincorporated Pinellas County
City of St. Petersburg
Relocating plumbing, changing electrical or mechanical systems, or performing structural work generally requires a permit. Flood-zone and historic properties can require additional review.
City of Clearwater
Tile, flooring, cabinets and some like-for-like fixture replacements generally do not require a permit. Plumbing fixture relocation, electrical changes, framing or wall changes, windows and other regulated construction do.
City of Safety Harbor
Bathroom renovations involving plumbing, electrical or other regulated construction require permits. Plumbing and electrical permits are handled through Pinellas County, while the City may also separately review local or flood-zone requirements.
City of Tarpon Springs
Bathroom work involving plumbing changes requires permitting and inspection. Tarpon Springs specifically lists plumbing rough-in, tub/shower-pan and final plumbing inspections as applicable inspection stages.
City of Dunedin
Bathroom renovations involving plumbing, electrical, mechanical or building changes generally require permit review. Dunedin’s renovation submittals may require floor plans and plans for the affected plumbing, electrical or mechanical work.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How much does a bathroom remodel cost?
A full bathroom remodel in Pinellas County commonly falls in the $15,000–$40,000+ range, depending on size, layout changes, shower and tile scope, cabinetry, plumbing, and finish selections. Use our Bathroom Project Planner for a range based on your specific project details.
How long does a bathroom remodel take?
Most full bathroom renovations take about 3–5 weeks of active construction. Smaller projects may be faster, while large primary bathrooms or major layout changes can take 5–8+ weeks.
Do bathroom remodels require permits?
Sometimes. Cosmetic updates may not require one, while plumbing relocation, electrical work, structural changes, windows, and other regulated work typically do require applying for permits and completing inspections. Requirements vary by local jurisdiction.
Can a bathtub be converted to a walk-in shower?
Yes. Tub-to-shower conversions are common and can include a larger shower footprint, new waterproofing, tile, glass, niches, benches, and updated fixtures.
Can you build a curbless or zero-entry shower?
Yes, when the existing floor structure and drainage conditions allow it. Proper slope, drain placement, waterproofing, and floor transitions are critical to the design.
Can plumbing fixtures be relocated?
Yes. Toilets, showers, tubs, and vanities can often be moved, although relocation can increase plumbing work, permitting requirements, cost, and construction time.
Do you handle plumbing, electrical, tile, and cabinetry?
Yes. Unicco coordinates the complete bathroom renovation from start to finish, including demolition, plumbing, electrical, waterproofing, tile, cabinetry, fixtures, glass, and finish work.
Do materials need to be selected before contacting Unicco?
No. Photos, inspiration images, or a general idea of your priorities are more than enough to start. Final selections can be developed as the scope and budget are established.
Can a bathroom be remodeled without changing the layout?
Absolutely. Keeping the existing fixture locations can vastly reduce complexity and expense while still allowing for major upgrades to the shower, vanity, tile, lighting, ventilation, and finishes.
